Blog - A Former Foster Kid Helps the Next Generation

Fostering Champions

When Bobby Canipe was five years old, his mother died unexpectantly. When no one was able to take in Bobby and his older sister, they were placed in foster care. Bobby bounced between different foster homes until, finally, he was placed in a permanent home. Bobby then began working with young adults and teens in a student ministry.

When Bobby married his wife, Dell, they became foster parents, eventually providing foster care for 13 children. Some of their foster kids were removed from horrific situations, and Bobby and Dell were glad to give them the stable and caring home that they needed.

Bobby and Dell eventually turned their efforts towards helping foster kids prepare for their adult lives by creating the organization, Fostering Champions. Fostering Champions provides transitional housing, career training, and transportation to kids transitioning out of foster care. Additionally, they provide these kids with food assistance, scholarships, and technology tools such as laptops. The goal of Fostering Champions is to prepare foster kids for a future in which they can thrive.

Fostering Champions relies on community support, volunteers, and financial support to accomplish their mission. To learn more about Fostering Champions, visit their website:
