Blog - Can You Be Young, Single and a Foster Parent?

Young man with a light bulb idea.

Jesse Bless - Foster Care Warriors

Jesse Bless, a young man in his mid-twenties, didn’t think foster parenting was in his future. He was busy pursuing a career as a Christian music artist. But a heartbreaking loss at a music competition started him on the road of re-thinking his plans.  He was working as a counselor at a residential treatment facility for kids. One of the kids, “Kellen” really tugged at his heart, especially when he learned that “Kellen” was a foster kid. He began to consider becoming “Kellen’s” foster parent. But before he could even complete the paperwork to become a foster parent, “Kellen” was placed with another foster family.

This second setback left Jesse feeling confused about what God had planned for his future. But he persevered, completed the foster parent application, and started fostering. To bring awareness to the need for foster families, he wrote and filmed a music video about the life of a foster child titled “Home to You.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYmIDjQRphQ

Then, in mid-September 2026, his future became crystal clear when he was able to formally adopt his foster son, giving him a forever home, and becoming his dad.

But Jesse had even more to give. He started a Facebook group, “Jesse Bless Foster Care Warriors” https://join.jessebless.com/?t=vz8ilq to give encouragement to foster parents and former foster kids.  This group is not only sharing individual stories, but also resources and stories of communities coming together to help foster families. He is building the village that all foster families need.

You can read Jesse’s full story in his ebook:  https://ebook.jessebless.com/?t=st1tiq

Thank you, Jesse, for caring for foster kids and foster families. I hope that his story encourages others to “be the village.”
