Author Spotlight: Thea Whitehead

Teaching Kindness One Bug at a Time

Thea Whitehead, also known as the “Bright-eyed Bug Lady” was born the 2nd of six children. She learned all the first-grade curriculum in six weeks because of her high IQ, skipped first grade, and continued to excel throughout school. In college, she attained a teaching degree and taught primary school in Australia. She wrote a script for an Aussie TV show, did day care, worked at preschools, did substitute teaching, and even became a foster parent. She also worked with adults with disabilities, ultimately receiving her certification, and became a supervisor. At a subsequent job, she learned website creation and advertising.

She began her writing career by writing three books and eventually created the “Bright-eyed Bugs Club.” These seven books plus a coloring book promote kindness and diversity acceptance. The books also teach about the main characters, the bugs themselves. Her Bright-Eyed Kids Collection Books teach kids social and developmental skills. Her books are loved all over the world.

Thea’s books and her bugs are kindness ambassadors!

Her books can be found on Amazon and Goodreads
